Pels rookie E.J. Liddell underwent successful ACL surgery; announced out indefinitely

New Orleans Pelicans rookie E.J. Liddell underwent a successful ACL reconstruction surgery in his right knee, the team announced on Tuesday. 

Liddell sustained the said unfortunate injury back in the Pelicans’ Summer League match against the Atlanta Hawks on July 11.

He is projected to miss the entire 2022-2023 season. 

Liddell entered the league out of the Ohio State Buckeyes, averaging 19.4 points, 7.9 boards, 2.5 assists in 49 percent shooting during his junior year. 

Touted as a late 1st round pick, Liddell slipped into the 2nd round and was selected by NOLA for the 41st pick of the recent draft. 

The 21-year-old forward remains unsigned in his rookie deal with the Pelicans.
