Aron Baynes drawing interest from NBL’s Brisbane Bullets – report

After an almost one-year break from competitive basketball, Aron Baynes is now gathering interest from a particular club in his home country.

Sources told Emiliano Carchia of Sportando that National Basketball League’s Brisbane Bullets have their eyes focused on the big man.

It was reported since February that the Bullets are intrigued on adding Baynes within their lineup. News Corp Australia’s Matt Logue then provided that the said Aussie team is already armed with a multi-year contract to hand on the veteran should he wish to finally leave the NBA.

Baynes suffered from a horrifying spinal cord injury while representing the Australian national basketball team from the last Tokyo Olympics. He was hospitalized for numerous times and experienced serious numbness, body pain and inability to walk.

Following months of recovery and rehabilitation, Baynes had a series of workouts with several teams during the recent NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, it seems like he hasn’t gained a playing offer yet to play again in the association.

Baynes, 35, is an eight-year undrafted center within the league who last played for the Toronto Raptors in the 2020-2021 season, averaging 6.1 points, 5.2 boards in 44 percent shooting across 53 games.

He won an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs way back in 2014.
