Dejounte Murray: “I don’t even think I’m in my prime or that close to it”

New Atlanta Hawk/soon-to-be 26 year old Dejounte Murray told Chris Haynes yesterday that he’s not even close to reaching his prime as a player.

(Via NBA on ESPN):

“I don’t even think I’m in my prime or that close to it. I just came back from an injury, man, and people don’t realize that. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Just timing, and everything. This past season was a year where I was healthy and given the opportunity to go try and run a team, and be the leader of a team. I’m a natural leader, but with DeMar out, Kawhi, all those guys finally leaving.

“At the end of the day, that’s the Spurs organization, they’re first class. Me and Pop, it was an agreement, and they just wanted the best for Dejounte. That’s something that you gotta respect. I have a lot of respect for the organization because I feel like that’s rare, and for them to send me somewhere where I wanted to go, at that, speaks volumes.”
