Kevin Durant could still be wearing a Nets uniform next season

The Nets are in no rush to trade their All-Star despite his request.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Durant could end up staying with the Brooklyn Nets this year, despite his desire to be traded.

Durant sent shockwaves through the NBA last week when he informed the Nets that he wants out. But there’s been very little happening on that front and, per Woj, the longer the saga drags on, the more likely it is that the Nets retain the player’s services into 2022/23.

“Absolutely, especially if this drags out and if there’s not a deal found here in the next month and it goes into August and you get closer to training camp,” Wojnarowski was quoted as saying on NBA Today (H/T Bleacher Report). “Brooklyn, they don’t have to take a deal that they don’t want to do. … But then at the same time, Kevin Durant, as he looks at the situation, could he look at it differently over time? That’s certainly a possibility.”

The Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns are said to be KD’s preferred destinations.
