On Monday, WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia for more than four months on drug charges, made a direct appeal to US President Joe Biden for her freedom in a letter passed through her representatives, via OutKick:

“I’m terrified I might be here forever,” she wrote in an excerpt, per ESPN. “I realize you are dealing with so much, but please don’t forget about me and the other detainees … Please do all you can to bring us home.”

Sports analyst Jason Whitlock took to Twitter to react to the issue:

“What’s sad here is that Trump would’ve brought her home long ago. Same way as Lavar Ball’s son got in trouble in China and was brought home. But let’s remember Trump is a racist. His administration met with Ice Cube. Biden wouldn’t and won’t. But Trump is racist. Remember that.”
