Bradley Beal likely to decline player option and re-sign a max deal with Wizards

It is probable that Bradley Beal will settle in D.C. and grab one of the league’s most lucrative contracts today.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the All-star guard is “very likely” to turn down his $36.4 million player option and proceed to re-sign a hefty five-year max contract with the Washington Wizards this summer.

Per numerous sources, the deal between Beal and the Wiz is projected to be around $248 million in price tag.

Beal has been a consistent component of the trade rumors around the NBA since last season, but he reiterated multiple times that he wants to remain in Washington.

He’s been in the club ever since being drafted as the third overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, and now hailed as their de facto core man following the departure of John Wall in the 2020-2021 season.

Last campaign with the Wizards served as a downing one for Beal upon missing the postseason and having a season-ending wrist surgery last February.

But with Kristaps Porzingis and bunch of reliable role players in the likes of Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, both him and the Wizards are potentially aspiring for an upcoming year of emergence
