Barcelona youngster Alex Abrines looks set to sign a new deal with the Liga Endesa champions until 2021.

TalkBasket has learned though that the details of the new deal have not been finalised and could change.

Whatever deal is eventually finalised though, the news will please many Barcelona fans, especially as it looks like Croatian prodigy Mario Hezonja will declare himself available for this year’s NBA Draft.

This will only motivate Abrines to put pen to paper as his role with Barca will grow from next season. It will also give the 21-year-old time to ponder his own future as Oklahoma City Thunder have the forward’s rights.

So far, in just a short space of time, Abrines has grown in stature and is a key part of coach Xavi Pascual’s roster. The Mallorca-born player averages 8.3 points a game in the Euroleague and 9.9 points in the Liga Endesa, off the bench.
