Klay Thompson on championship: “You do yourself a disservice talking about things that don’t exist yet”

The Warriors could become the NBA champions later tonight if they manage to defeat the Celtics in Game 6 in Boston. Even though the title is very close, Klay Thompson says that the team is not thinking about it and instead talks about being present.

“I don’t think the championship we think about too much because we’ve talked about it just being present and you do yourself a disservice if you think about things that don’t even exist yet,” the three-time NBA champion said.

“So, on your first point, it is very hard to close out a series and this is very good team and we know they’re going to play with the sense of desperation.

“So, for us to to match that or exceed that it’s going to take the most effort we’ve had to give all year. But I can tell you this – we’re all ready for the opportunity we’re all very excited.”

Over the first five games of this year’s finals Thompson is averaging 18 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2 assists in 37.8 minutes per game.
