Robert Williams III provided a boost for the Celtics on the defensive end in Game 3 of the NBA Finals as he grabbed 7 defensive rebounds, blocked 4 shots and made 3 steals.

In addition the 24-year-old center had 8 points and 3 offensive rebounds as Boston defended home court and regained the lead in the series.

According to his teammate Jaylen Brown, Williams could have won the Defensive Player of the Year this season as he was in the same category as Marcus Smart who won the award.

“Rob is an excellent defensive player,” Brown said. “In my opinion he could have won Defensive Player of the Year as well in that category with Smart, but he had some injuries that probably took him out the running.
