The Lakers Big 3 which was formed prior to this season failed to achieve the goals that the team had laid out last summer. Many questions were raised whether LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook can co-exist and compete for a championship.

Darvin Ham, who was appointed as the new head coach of the purple and gold, was asked about how he plans to use the Big 3 the coming season after a disappointing year. He emphasised the importance of playing defense and being accountable.

“It’s how can they compete together, you know what I’m saying? It starts on the defensive end and from there we’re going to build back toward the offense,” the former NBA player said. “I think the type of spacing for four out one in style which I’m going to implement is going to help all parties.

“My goal is again continue with the development of our younger players and make those guys comfortable where they’re not having to run to a telephone booth and throw a cape on and try to save the day. Everything has to be a team effort.

“Again, competitive, together and accountable. If there’s mistakes made I have to be able to coach those three guys like I do the rest of the roster. We have a saying facts over feelings.

“Once you see the film and it’s the fact you missed your assignment, then that has to be pointed out because if I can’t point that out to one of our big three, then the last man or somebody in the rotation they’re not going to take what we’re doing seriously. So, it has to be consistent across the board.”
