Jayson Tatum on going 3/17 in Game 1 of NBA Finals vs Warriors: “If it means we keep winning, I’ll take it

The Celtics marked their return to the NBA Finals after 14 years with a win over the Warriors (120-108). Boston was down by 12 points entering the fourth quarter but they completely dominated in the final period (40-16) to wake the win.

It was a tough night for the Celtics star Jayson Tatum who had just 3/17 field goals and finished the game with 12 points. The 24-year-old forward was scoreless in the fourth quarter as his team made a huge run.

After the game Tatum was asked how he walks away from a game where he is not good offensively but the team plays well. “Ecstatic,” he said. “40 points in the fourth quarter. JB [Jaylen Brown] played big, Al [Horford], Payton [Pritchard], D-White [Derrick White] — those guys made big shots. Timely shots as well. And we won.

“Bad shooting night [for me]. I just tried to impact the game in other ways,” Tatum, who had 13 assists, continued. “We’re in a championship, we’re in the Finals. All I was worried about was trying to get a win. And we did. That’s all that matters at this point. I don’t expect to shoot that bad again, but if it means we keep winning, I’ll take it.”
