OKC, Kings discussed a top pick, first-round swapping for 2022 Draft – report

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Sacramento Kings might be looking to gain a respective benefit from each other through a possible draft transaction.

Kings insider James Ham provided in his podcast that both Sacramento and the Oklahoma City had some talks regarding a prized draft pick swap.

In last week’s draft lottery for the 2022 rookie selection, OKC gained the rights for the first round’s second overall selection. Meanwhile, having a magic touch and a bit of a luck, Sac-town lands at the fourth spot following the Houston Rockets that holds the third.

Under the command of lead executive Sam Presti, the Thunder remains committed in their grand rebuild project. Should they pull off a transaction with the Kings, the primary motive could be a further addition of bountiful draft picks in their loaded war chest.

Meanwhile, the Kings are desperately hopeful to end their 16-year postseason drought in the 2022-2023 season upon the hiring of head coach Mike Brown and the molding of Domantas Sabonis-De’Aaron Fox leadership core. Having the second overall pick from Thunder will give them a chance to land one of the three promising frontcourt prospects in Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith and Paolo Banchero after the Orlando Magic picks first.

Both Sacramento and Oklahoma City are developing teams and will certainly give themselves a great position if this reported conversation will result into a deal.
