Derrick Favors opts in contract for 2022-23 season – report

Big man Derrick Favors will pick up his $10.2 million player option with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 2022-2023 season, Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported.

Favors, 30, inked a three-year, $27 million deal with the Utah Jazz in 2020 and was traded to the Thunder prior to this season.

At the OKC’s exit interview, Favors already expressed his intentions to stay with the promising ball club.

As a veteran off the bench, Favors had an average of 5.3 points, 4.7 boards in 51 percent shooting for Oklahoma City this 2021-2022 season.

OKC compiled a 24-58 regular season record and is still committed to their major rebuild being bannered by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey. They are set to land another bright prospect in the next NBA Draft.
