Mike Brown reveals why he didn’t consult Klay Thompson when deciding to start Kevon Looney in Game 6

Prior to Game 6 of the second round series against the Grizzlies, Kevon Looney started four times in this year’s playoffs. Temporary head coach Mike Brown followed the advice of Draymond Green and Steph Curry to put the big man in the starting lineup for a potential series closing game.

And the decision payed off big time. The 26-year-old center cored just 4 points but grabbed 22 rebounds and dished out 5 assists as the Warriors won the game and advanced to the Western Conference Finals.

Brown was asked why he did not consult Klay Thompson while making this decision. It turns out the star was present but was asleep and did not participate.

“You know what, Klay was asleep on the flight back, so he was part of the conversation but he had his shades on, his headband on and he had a blanket over him. So we didn’t get much out of Klay when we tried to include him in the decision,” Brown said.
