76ers to shut down Joel Embiid in G3 vs Miami; availability status to possibly change

The Philadelphia 76ers are currently making Joel Embiid unavailable for Game 3 of their best-of-seven second-round series against the Miami Heat on Friday (h/t ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski).

But there is a possibility that the MVP candidate’s availability status will change in the impending must-win game.

Embiid remains out and recovering from his concussion and orbital fracture that he sustained in Sixers’ Game 6 closeout win against the Toronto Raptors. He also led the franchise through the first-round series dub amid thumb injury woes.

Without Embiid, the Sixers were overwhelmed in the paint, fell in the deep hole and now down 0-2 against the Heat. As such, the superstar big man’s presence can truly make a huge swing on the competitiveness of this matchup.
