Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro wins Sixth man of the Year Award

Herro had been the leading favorite all season.

Tyler Herro has been named the 2021/22 Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year following his impressive production coming off the bench for the Miami Heat during the regular season.

The Heat, who are up 1-0 in their Eastern Conference semi-final series against the Philadelphia 76ers, finished first in said conference, with Herro playing a huge role in their success. The former Kentucky star averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 32.6 minutes per game in his third season as a pro and is the first Heat player to win the award. Of the 66 games he played, 10 of them were starts.

Herro received 96 first-place votes and a total of 488 points from a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers came in second with 214 points and three first-place votes while Phoenix Suns forward Cam Johnson finished in third with 128 points and one first-place vote.
