Warriors shooting guard Gary Payton II was given an assignment to guard Ja Morant in Game 1 of the second round series against the Grizzlies.
He described the challenge of having to guard one of the best young players in the NBA as ‘fun.’ Payton played 23 minutes and scored 8 points while Morant had 34 points in 38 minutes.
“Fun. It’s just fun,” he said postgame. “He brings the best out of me. Hopefully, I bring the best out of him. We go at it, battle. He brings the best out of our whole team. We take on a challenge and we like these type of games.”
