The addition of Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers this past offseason reportedly was a result of pressure from Klutch Sports, an agency which represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

According to Lakers legend Magic Johnson, the team had the option to sign DeMar DeRozan who was interested in moving to Los Angeles but cancelled the plans in order to trade for Russ. It was the move that Johnson thinks that James is responsible for.

A recent report lends further support to this idea. It is now reported that the Lakers front office is internally blaming Klutch Sports for pressuring them to trade for Westbrook which turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Via Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report:

“Multiple sources indicate the team’s front office is internally blaming pressure from Klutch Sports Group (representing both James and Davis) for Westbrook.”

It is widely expected that the former NBA MVP and the Lakers will move in different directions this coming offseason. Apart from insider reports, Westbrook himself was caught liking an Instagram post asking him to leave the team. Later he deleted all Lakers photos from his IG profile.
