Monty Williams on Suns shooting in Game 5: “No matter where we play we take the ‘Let it Fly’ mentality with us”

Despite being without Devin Booker, the Suns bounced back after Game 4 loss by defeating the Pelicans in Game 5 (112-97). Phoenix was more accurate that New Orleans as they 37% of their three-pointers (10/27).

After the game Suns head coach Monty Williams said that it was nothing unusual for his team who always has the mentality of taking good shots.

“We’ve done it all year. It’s not like we haven’t shot threes this year,” he said. “No matter where we play we take the ‘Let it Fly’ mentality with us. The kind of basketball that allows for those kinds of threes is the paint that’s great that we talk about.

“And I thought we did that a really good job of forcing that issue but under control. Our guys are willing passers, that’s never been an issue for us. But it was good to see shots fall.”

A single win now separates the Suns from advancing to the second round as they lead the series against the Pelicans 3-2.
