Tyler Herro on his sophomore year: “Throughout the year I was worried about whether I was getting traded or not”

Tyler Herro is unquestionably one of the top players of the Miami Heat, despite coming off the bench in almost all games. This past regular season, which was his third in the league, the 22-year-old point guard averaged 20.7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 32.6 minutes per game.

But following his first year which saw the Heat go all the way to the Finals just to lose against the Lakers, Herro was uncertain about his future and thought that he get be traded. A trade never happened and he remained in Miami and continued improving his numbers.

Via Israel Gutierrez of ESPN:

“Throughout the year I was worried about whether I was getting traded or not. It was just all mental.”

“Once the season ended, I wanted to get into such a good mental place that I didn’t care if I got traded,” Herro says.

Most recently Herro was the scorer for the Heat with 24 points as his team lost Game 3 of the first round series against the Hawks. Miami leads the series 2-1.
