The NBA appears to be gearing up to delve into NFT market that has boomed over the last couple of years. Some of the league’s players are already involved as can be seen from their social media accounts.

As reported by Eli Tan of CoinDesk, the NBA made a series of trademark filings on April 7 that were made public Monday. The mark “THE ASSOCIATION” is designated for “downloadable multimedia file containing artwork, a variety of virtual consumer merchandise, game tickets, game programs, trading cards, collectibles, memorabilia, jerseys, uniforms, basketballs, scoreboards, video games, signs, player images, fan images, arena images, team logos, league logos, text, autographs, audio, photographs, video, game action, interviews, clips, highlights, broadcasts, events, tributes, shows, statistics, records, documents, memes relating to the field of basketball authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs); downloadable multimedia file containing artwork, images, text, audio and video relating to the field of basketball authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs).”
