It was widely expected that Frank Vogel will be fired by the Los Angeles Lakers after once the NBA regular season ended. The rumors have been circulating for the a major part of the year.

Following the last game of the season it as reported that the coach, who brought a championship to Los Angeles in 2020, will be let go.

It was an awkward situation when Vogel was asked about the report of him getting fired during the postgame press conference. Lakers head coach used an expletive in response.

A new report from a person who is familiar with the situation within the team suggests that the season was difficult for Vogel not just because of struggles on the court.

Allegedly he was treated with lack of respect by director of basketball operations Kurt Rambis who yelled at Vogel in front of the team. This led to players losing respect in their head coach to the point where they would text during games.

“The players didn’t know who they were answering to, and I think Vogel took the brunt of that because he was the guy they saw every day,” said a league source. “It wasn’t fair. On a regular basis, Rambis would get on Vogel in front of staff and players — in practices, in the hallway where everybody can see it. He wasn’t taking it behind closed doors and laying it out. And what position does Rambis have? What’s his title? His title is friend of (team governor) Jeanie Buss.

“Trust me, Frank Vogel would have been happy to have been fired from that mess.”
