The Philadelphia 76ers will have to deal without Matisse Thybulle in road games of their first road series against the Toronto Raptors.
The city of Toronto requires all of the visiting team players to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and it turns out that the French forward does not meet that requirement.
According to the 25-year-old shooting guard, he grew up in the family where Chinese medicine and naturopathic doctors were used and he trusted other means than the vaccine to protect himself from the illness.

“I was raised in a holistic household, where anti-vax is not like a term that was ever used, it’s a weird term that has been kind of been thrown around to just label people,” Thybulle said. “We grew up with Chinese medicine and naturopathic doctors. Just with that upbringing, coming into the situation, I felt like I had a solid foundation of medical resources that could serve me beyond what this vaccine could do for me. As things escalated, and as this situation has played out, I’ve obviously had to reconsider and look at it differently.”
Thybulle revealed that he took one dose of the jab last summer but chose not to take any subsequent shots because it became clear that people can get infected and spread the virus regardless of their vaccination status.
“And as things progressed, as this virus has changed many different ways, it showed through the science that wasn’t the case anymore, that even while being vaccinated you could still spread the disease.”
During the regular season Thybulle averaged 5.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 25.4 minutes per game.
