When Stanley Johnson was signed by the Lakers in late December 2021, the team was in 7th place in the Western Conference. While not being among the top teams where they were expected to be, most thought that the purple and gold will make the playoffs.
But with three regular season games left to play the Lakers were eliminated from postseason. Johnson admits that it is not something he thought could happen.
“Never in a million years that I imagine, especially when I got signed here, even as just a fan of the team that we’d be in this situation,” Johnson said after the Thunder game. “You make your plan, God laughs at you sometimes.
“In the summer we should all remember this and if we don’t like it, we should do something about it. This summer we have opportunity to get better in basketball as individuals and as a team all over the place.
“If we don’t like it, next year we have an opportunity to do something. So I think a lot of us are pretty mad about it. We don’t deserve anything, we got what we deserved. It hurts for it to be our last game, it’s not good.”
