NBA hands $15k fine to J.B. Bickerstaff for criticizing officials in Cavs’ loss vs Sixers

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff was slapped a $15,000 fine by the league for criticizing the officiating in his team’s loss against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Bickerstaff was frustrated on how the officials handled the hard-fought game until down the stretch, wherein the Cavs came up short inside their home turf, 112-108.

The first-year coach pointed out the discrepancy of foul calls, wherein Philly only had 19 if compared to Cavaliers’ 28. Joel Embiid and his squad went to the line 42 times and sank 35 of them in the charity stripe.

“That game was taken from us,” Bickerstaff said. “We deserved to win it.

“The one thing you can’t defend is the free throw line, and that’s absurd. Our guys deserved way better than they got tonight.”

Bickerstaff also felt that Darius Garland was fouled by Embiid with 15.2 seconds to play, wherein the All-star guard missed a layup from the contest which could have given his team a three point margin, 107-106.

“Darius was fouled,” Bickerstaff said. “He did his job and got to a spot and got fouled. No whistle.”

With the loss, Cleveland continued to fall down the Eastern Conference column, now at seventh with a 43-36 card.
