Dwight Howard admits it’s shocking for Lakers to be fighting for 10 seed

Dwight Howard was the second top scorer for the Lakers with 21 points in the loss against the Jazz (109-122). The 36-year-old center played 30 minutes and admitted to feeling a bit tired afterwards.

The loss kept Los Angeles in 11th place in the Western Conference. Howard was asked if it feels shocking for him to be fighting for a 10 seed after starting the season with such high expectations.

“It’s a little shocking but anything can happen when you play this sport,” he said postgame. “We knew coming in that we were going to get the teams’ best shot. It’s just not a good feeling knowing that how we wanted to start the season and where we thought we will be right now.

“We wish we would be at a better place but sometimes life throws you some hard times and you got to figure out a way to push through. So as a team we got to push through these last couple of games.

“I think everyone has given enough effort and energy. We want to win, it’s not like we go out there and say ‘Let’s just give up.’ But it’s been tough. We want to keep fighting, we’re not going to stop.”
