When Kevin Durant first called Kristaps Porzingis ‘unicorn,’ the Latvian forward was not at al excited about the nickname.

Porzingis, who is continuing his career in Washington after being traded to the Wizards, revealed that did not even know the meaning of the word ‘unicorn.’

But in time he grew to like it and now is actually trying to play like a unicorn himself.

Via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports:

“You know what, at first I didn’t like it. I was like what is that, ‘unicorn?’ I had never heard that word before. K.D. gave me that nickname and it stuck, it stuck. At first, I didn’t like it that much but now I like it. Now I actually like it. I think it kind of represents the way I play. I can play all over the floor and with my height and length. So, I try to embrace that and I try to play like a unicorn,” Porzingis said.”

Porzingis made his Wizards debut with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 21 minutes of play. His team defeated the Pacers.
