During the NBA All-Star weekend LeBron James hinted that could retire with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He later clarified his quote by saying that it could be on a one-day contract.

However, it seems that while the four-time NBA champion might be have some interest in returning to the Cavs in some way, the other side has different thoughts.

Via Marc Stein:

“I believe even more strongly now based on subsequent conversations, the Cavs do not want to do a third LeBron dance. This franchise, this organization, this ownership, this front office, they’ve had to hear for a zillion years, you’ve never done anything without LeBron.”

James spent 11 of his 19 years in the NBA in Cleveland, winning a championship in 2016. He left the Cavaliers twice — in 2010 he joined the Miami Heat and in 2018 he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
