Raptors’ OG Anunoby to miss time with fractured finger

Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby has fractured his right ring finger, the team announced today, and he is out tonight against the Charlotte Hornets.

More information will eventually come out later, but Anunoby is expected to miss time with the injury, notes Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca.

Anunoby’s finger was reportedly sore “for a while” before the All-Star break and an X-ray this week showed a small fracture, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca.

It’s unclear when the 24-year-old suffered the injury and there is currently no timeline.

The Raptors are about to enter a difficult stretch in their schedule where they play six games in eight days with three back-to-back sets (Feb. 25-26, Feb. 28-March 1 and March 3-4), so the trade deadline acquisition of Thad Young could prove to be important.

Young had the All-Star break to get up to speed and the team will likely lean on him in the frontcourt along with Khem Birch, Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa.

In 42 games, Anunoby is averaging career-highs across the board with 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
