LeBron James will leave Lakers if he doesn’t sign extension in summer, says NBA insider

LeBron James is in his fourth year with the Los Angeles Lakers. His contract is set to expire in summer of 2023 but his future in L.A. is not certain.

In his first three years as a Laker, James missed the playoffs, won a championship and exited the playoffs in the first round. This season has been difficult for the purple and gold as they are just in ninth place in the Western Conference with 27 wins and 31 losses.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, if LeBron does not extend his contract with the Lakers in summer, he is very likely to leave the team.

Interestingly, four years is the time period that James spent with the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers during his second stint there.

During the All-Star Weekend in Cleveland the 37-year-old superstar said that the door is not closed for his return to the Cavaliers. LeBron also openly said that he will do everything to play his final year in the NBA with his eldest son Bronny.
