Warriors to offer Jordan Poole a multi-year extension next summer; $80 million an estimated deal – report

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly targeting to lock the sensational Jordan Poole in a long-term partnership.

Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote that the Warriors will try to convince Poole to stay in the Bay area for an extended time this upcoming offseason in order to evade the restricted free agency scenario following the 2022-2023 campaign.

“The Warriors also will try to sign Poole to a multiyear extension this summer, which would allow them to avoid having to deal with him in restricted free agency in 2023,” Letourneau noted. “Keith Smith, a salary-cap expert for Spotrac, estimates that deal to be in the four-year, $80 million range.”

The possible deal, as told by Letourneau, will make the Andrew Wiggins max contract signing in 2023 a less complicated situation on the side of the Dubs.

Currently, franchise cornerstones Wiggins, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are occupying the largest parts in Golden State’s current and future payroll.

In almost 29 minutes of action, the 22-year-old Poole is averaging 16.4 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 boards in 40 percent field goal shooting. Earlier this season, he was paired with Curry on the Warriors’ starting backcourt slate and has shown some future star potential with his offensive repertoire and talented wits.
