Amid the recent turmoil that occurred and the major roster tweaks prior to the trade deadline, Brooklyn Nets lead executive Sean Marks still has his eyes on the prize on one specific goal this season.

And that is the championship.

Speaking in front of the media on Tuesday, Marks declared that he expects his ball club to have a championship finish come in June this year.

“Championship – That’s it,” Marks said (h/t HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto). I would be doing 17 players and another 60 staff members a massive disservice if I said anything other than that because that’s what we’re all here for.”

The Nets pulled their trigger on a lineup overhaul after a complicated case with James Harden, wherein they acquired the disgruntled star Ben Simmons, sharpshooter Seth Curry and big man Andre Drummond in a blockbuster deal with the Philadelphia 76ers hours before the trade deadline had ended. Last Monday, they also inked veteran point guard Goran Dragic for the rest of the season – boosting their chances to climb up in the East standings and end the regular season on a high note.

With Kevin Durant still out due to a knee injury and Kyrie Irving dealing with part-time availability because of the ongoing vaccination mandate in New York, the Nets remain optimistic about what lies ahead. If fully healthy, they are certainly a top-tier championship squad with that balanced roster and overwhelming talent.

Currently, the eight-seeded team of the competitive Eastern Conference with a 31-28 card, Brooklyn will face the Boston Celtics at home after the All-star break on Friday.
