James Worthy on Russell Westbrook: “I’m looking forward to Russ proving people wrong”

Russell Westbrook has been under lots of pressure since joining the Lakers this past summer. The 33-year-old point guard joined fellow superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis with the goal of winning a championship.

He had some struggles in the first half of the season to the point where some fans analysts alike started calling for him to be traded. Since the passing of the trade deadline Westbrook has been playing better and Lakers legend James Worthy thinks he will further improve his game after the All-Star break.

“I’m looking forward to Russ proving people wrong,” he said on Spectrum SportsNet. “A lot of people don’t think he was the right move when they traded for him and I think he’s going to quietly and methodically just keep playing his game.

“I think in the last three or four games we’re starting to see him get rid of of all the chatter, the trade deadline is over he didn’t have to worry about that. Now he comes to the locker room and he says ‘This is it and I know I can play just let me concentrate on the things I can do.'”
