Zion Williamson could reportedly need second surgery on his right foot

Zion Williamson has not touched the floor this season. The New Orleans Pelicans’ superstar recovers from a foot surgery that took place before the start of the offseason.

Williamson has experienced many setbacks so far during his rehab. He started to work with the team in December, then Pels ruled him out after experiencing foot soreness.

According to Christian Clark of nola.com:

“Williamson was supposed to return to practice in December, but he began experiencing soreness in his right foot. That month, he flew to Los Angeles to have an injection to promote healing. It is possible he will need a second surgery on his right foot, sources said, but nothing has been decided.”

That’s definitely not what the Pelicans’ fans want to hear after their team acquired CJ McCollum in the trade deadline, hoping to create a dynamic trio with Brandon Ingram and Williamson.

After a slow start to the season, New Orleans is standing at 23-35 -one game behind the 10th seeded Portland Trail Blazers-. They will need to make a push in the remaining games after the All-Star break to have a chance of making the playoffs.
