Denver Nuggets will reportedly have Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. back before the end of the regular season. According to Mike Singer of Denver Post, the two players are expected to be clear for physical activity prior to the postseason.

Murray is out since last season, rehabbing from a torn ACL. Michael Porter Jr. was added to the Nuggets’ injury list early in the 2021-22 regular season with a back issue.

Per Mike Singer:

“Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray are expected to each be physically cleared to return before the end of the regular season, a source said. Murray’s rehab from a torn ACL is different than Porter’s rehab from early-season back surgery. The two — and their respective timelines — shouldn’t be compared.

Murray has never had a major injury and never had to endure the grind of an extended rehab before. The process, according to a person familiar with Murray’s thinking, has been harder than he anticipated.”

According to Singer, both players may not be available to play, even if they clear to participate in team’s activities this season. Michael Porter Jr. has progressed well so far after his back surgery, according to his agent. However, the Nuggets have taken a cautious approach and it’s unclear when he will be available to play again.

Denver stands at 30-24 fueled by Nikola Jokic’s MVP-type of play. They are 1.5 games ahead of the seventh-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves avoiding the play-in tournament. As a result, they would definitely would like to have Murray and Porter Jr. back in time for the postseason, however, the team’s FO remains patient.
