NBA Lineup Notes: Bullock, Hardaway Jr., Porzingis, Hayes, Prince, Williams, Johnson

Lineup notes from players in the Western Conference during trade deadline week.

  • Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Reggie Bullock is stepping up for the injured Tim Hardaway Jr. & Kristaps Porzingis in a very efficient way. The soon-to-be 31-year-old has averaged 18.8 PPG/5.7 RPG/1.5 SPG on 50.7% FG/49.1% 3-PT/100.0% FT shooting numbers in his last 6 games, as Hardaway Jr. went down with a fractured left foot on January 25th vs. Golden State and Porzingis injured his right knee on January 29th vs. Indiana. Bullock started off slow from three point range this season and only shot 30.9% in his first 40 games, but now he’s up to 35.3% on the season thanks to that recent run.
  • New Orleans Pelicans big man Jaxson Hayes saw career lows in MPG and even went down to the G-League from October to December, but it’s been a solid January-early February for the former lottery pick. Hayes put up 11.3 PPG/4.8 RPG/1.0 BPG/71.5% FG in 20.1 MPG during his last 20 games, as his only flaw continues to be fouling on defense at 2.6 fouls per game. However, his athleticism and energy have made a huge difference in short runs, so it should be interesting to see if the Pelicans keep him following being made available last week for a rumored trade.
  • Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Taurean Prince shot the ball just 31.3% from three point land in his first 30 games, which was hurting him going into a free agent summer. He recently ended that bad stretch by shooting 59.4% from deep during his last 12 games, as Prince showed signs of being an efficient three point shooter last season when he put up a 40.0% three point percentage with the Brooklyn Nets & Cleveland Cavaliers. NBA personnel believe Prince could possibly ask for a buyout if he’s traded at the deadline.
  • Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kenrich Williams continues to bring versatility and would be a nice trade addition for a playoff team. The 27-year-old has averaged 7.7 PPG/4.2 RPG/2.2 APG/49.9% FG/40.7% 3-PT in two seasons with the Thunder after learning a lot during his first few seasons on the New Orleans Pelicans. According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, OKC would like a first round pick in return for Williams.
  • New Los Angeles Laker Stanley Johnson is proving that he deserves to stay put in the NBA. The #8 pick in the 2015 draft by the Detroit Pistons always brought tough defense and a solid basketball IQ, but shot the ball poorly, and now he’s shooting a career best 47.4% from the field to go along with his already polished overall skillset.
