Wolves trade rumors: Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley shopped in trade market; Marcus Smart a recent candidate to fill the veteran’s presence in Minny

The Minnesota Timberwolves have explored their possibilities to ship away Patrick Beverley and Malik Beasley.

Per the release of Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, Minnesota tried to engage in trade conversations about Beverley and Beasley. Boston Celtics’ Marcus Smart was reportedly the latest target of the franchise to fill the defensive-minded guard’s position in the lineup.

Before Patrick Beverley reaches free agency, Minnesota is exploring trade avenues involving its veteran point guard in addition to the Timberwolves’ conversations regarding Malik Beasley. Marcus Smart has been mentioned as a recent target for Minnesota who would fill Beverley’s integral role in the Wolves’ starting lineup.

In the earlier part of this season, the T-Wolves set their priorities high on re-signing Beverley after reports of discussion for a deal, who is playing the final season of his three-year $40 million contract and landed on the team last offseason. With this newest news, it is shocking to see that he’s been shopped by the management after captivating the hearts of Minny faithful with his leadership and relentlessness for the promising squad bannered by Karl Anthony-Towns.

Though being inconsistent and shooting 37 percent from the field, Beasley has been a topic of discussion for a possible trade by Minnesota. Averaging 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists, he is a serviceable guard who can score at his will.

With Minnesota continuing to claw their way up high in the West as the seventh seed, it is interesting to see how these rumors will materialize for days to come on their side.
