The Sacramento Kings are no longer interested to orchestrate a transaction with the Philadelphia 76ers about Ben Simmons.
As reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday, the Kings are reluctant to pull the trigger due to the Sixers’ high asking price for the disgruntled star. As such, they remain hopeful to remodel their lineup by engaging with other teams around the league for some possible swapping.
Inside of two weeks until the Feb. 10 NBA trade deadline, the Kings believe the asking price is too steep and that a pathway to a trade agreement with the Sixers doesn’t exist, sources said.
The Sixers-Kings trade has been a topic of chatter for the past several weeks, wherein the Western squad is looking for a strong push to end their playoff drought in 16 years. Currently, at the 13th place of their conference and on a losing skid, they have several lucrative assets of role players like Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield, and Richaun Holmes to put into the table, while still building around the talented guard combo of De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton.
With this latest update, the chances of Simmons sitting down for the remainder of the season now increased – as GM Daryl Morey remains stiff of his demands while looking on his chances to snatch either James Harden or Bradley Beal in the offseason.
