Several rival teams of the Milwaukee Bucks have expected that the NBA will slap Grayson Allen a harsher punishment after the recent infamous reckless play against Alex Caruso.
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, these ball clubs have expected the league to hand Allen a harder punishment to discourage the future foulers from committing some harsh contacts.
And if the Bulls’ long-term loss of Caruso really mattered in the Allen case, as we were told it would, then Allen needed to get a minimum three-game suspension … or something beyond a paltry one-game ban. I’m not the only one who feels this way, either. I’ve heard from a handful of rival teams, with no stake in the matter beyond watching intently for the NBA’s reaction after the Bulls so vociferously complained about Allen’s actions, that expected Allen to be punished harder as a deterrent to future foulers. In the Bucks’ matchup against the Chicago Bulls last week, Allen put a tough contest against the soaring Caruso, making the latter fall awkwardly. The fan-favorite was ruled out for 6-8 weeks for the surgery recovery of the fractured right wrist he sustained on the sequence – news that caused a further public backlash against the 26-year-old.
After the association decided to give Allen a one-game suspension, the Bucks, on their part, expressed their disapproval of the decision and expect their newly-acquired cager to play in their upcoming matchup against the New York Knicks on Friday.
While the league hasn’t released any statements yet regarding the response of the Milwaukee brass, the chatter within the NBA world has to be considered in looking at the assessment of unnecessary fouls in the future.
