Chicago Bulls are still waiting to see if the NBA will punish Milwaukee Bucks guard Grayson Allen further after implementing a one-game suspension on Milwaukee Bucks’ guard for an injury-causing flagrant-2 foul on Alex Caruso.
After receiving waves upon waves of backlash from fans across the NBA, several Allen’s teammates came to his defense calling the incident that will cost Alex Caruso 6-8 weeks unintentional and unfortunate.
Jrue Holiday shared his view on the Allen’s flagrant foul:
“Grayson, we know Grayson. He’s not that type of player. He didn’t do it maliciously and he didn’t want to see Caruso get hurt. Grayson didn’t do it purpose. We know that and he knows that, so he knows that we have his back,” Holiday said per Bucks’ beat writer Joe Cowley.
Allen addressed the situation via his own Discord channel, offering an explanation and his laugh after heading to the Bucks’ bench.
“Also to this point. I stood at half court watching till he got up till see if he was okay. Then when I was back by our bench a teammate made a joke and I laughed. I wasn’t laughing at the foul,” Allen said in response to Richard Jefferson’s tweet.
“It was very unfortunate how it played out. I jumped to block it with my left and as I’m spinning went to grab the ball with my right hand not throw him down. It was a really hard fall and I’m glad he’s okay. If I could do the play over again knowing he’d fall like that I wouldn’t make the play.”
Caruso is expected to miss up to two months after undergoing surgery on the injured wrist. He will be reevaluated in 6-8 weeks.
