Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is on the path to win mutliple champions, according to his head coach Jason Kidd. Kidd said as much on Thursday after the Mavs’ defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.
Doncic had a near triple-double of 28 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. However, Dallas lost the game after leading for most of the time.
According to Kidd, Doncic was once like a young Jordan who tried to won against the Detroit Pistons by himself until he got a running mate who help him get over the hump.
“You look at Michael Jordan when he was young, tried to beat Detroit Pistons by himself and couldn’t do it. Then he a running mate and made it simple. When the great ones make it easy and simple, it becomes fun. You can see that with Luka.”
This season, Doncic seems to have found at least two reliable teammates in Kristaps Porzingis and Jalen Brunson. The Mavs remain at the middle of the Western Conference with their 26-20 record, having just two losses in the last 11 games.
Doncic is looking to get past the first round of the playoffs for the first time in his career and a higher seed along with his improved teammates will surely help him achieve that.
