Aside from the Lakers losing at home against the Pacers, the major topic of discussion was Frank Vogel’s decision to bench Russell Westbrook for the final four minutes of the game.

After the game Lakers head coach said he chose the players that he thought were going to win the game when asked about benching Russ. Former NBA player Jalen Rose says he saw this coming as Westbrook’s role is diminishing, especially this year, to where there is little room for error.

In games where the 33-year-old point guard is struggling offensively he will get benched, according to Rose. “What’s next? Here’s what’s next. Get used to that. That’s how the game works,” he said on ESPN’s Jalen&Jacoby.

“So many people look at sports and think that everybody gets the LeBron, KD, Steph Curry journey where they get to play 35-40 minutes, be all NBA and in the MVP conversation.

“There’s a reason why these guys are all-time greats. And then it’s everybody else. People have to adjust their roles. One of the things I see now in Russ, he’s played with all of the top players in the game.

“When he was young, he played with KD and Harden, played with Harden again in Houston, he played with Paul George, he played with Sabonis, played with Bradley Beal, now he’s playing with LeBron James. The difference in this situation versus all of those other situations is his role is continuing to diminish.

“When you go from being the guy in OKC where they probably going to give you a statue, they still should, till now playing a role with the Lakers, you ain’t got no room for error.”
