Luka Doncic was the biggest reason the Dallas Mavericks slipped past the pesky Toronto Raptors Wednesday night. The Mavs’ superstar dropped a season-high 41 points, along with 14 rebounds and seven assists, to lead the Mavericks to a 102-98 win.

Doncic became the player with the most 40+ points, 10+rebounds and 5+ assists games in Dallas Mavericks’ history as he recorded the third one in his NBA career. The Mavericks seem to have found their way in the upper echelon of the Western Conference.

They won the 10 of their last 11 games, with Doncic slowly rising up in the NBA’s MVP ladder. The fifth-seeded Dallas is just three games away from  the Jazz at #4. The Mavericks are on a four-game winning streak. During that span, Doncic averages 27.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 8.0 assists in 36 minutes per game.

“I needed it,” Doncic told reporters after Mavs’ win. “I felt great out there, especially we got the win. I just felt great out there. Keep being aggressive and just play basketball.”

Doncic and the Mavs are going against the league-leading Phoenix Suns in the second part of a tough back-to-back, hoping to continue building good habits.

“Chemistry and accountability are the words that we use this year, and I think it’s interesting to see the growth of guys being able to not rely on a timeout to fix things on the court. Championship teams have that ability, and hopefully we’re growing this group to be that,” Jason Kidd told reporters after Wednesday’s contest.
