Warriors’ GM shares encouraging update on Draymond Green’s back injury

Golden State Warriors have faced the last six opponents without Draymond Green, who is dealing with a disc problem in his lower back.

Prior to the game against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, Warriors’ GM Bob Myers shared an encouraging update on Draymond Green’s recovery.

“The good news is his strength is coming back,” Myers said during an interview on 95.7 The Game’s “Morning Roast with Bonta & Shasky.” “Each day it’s getting a little better and that’s the good news. It hasn’t plateaued. We just gotta let the process go the way it’s going.

“We talked to some specialists who said we’re doing the right things. The key is to not throw a guy out there that has this issue, and it makes it worse.”

The Warriors had announced Sunday that MRIs revealed a back injury in what was deemed as a calf issue at the beginning.

Green’s injury was revealed 10 days ago — on the same day Klay Thompson made his long-awaited return vs the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was insisted on being there for the team in the opening tip before he gets to the bench.

The Warriors went on to win three of their last six games without Green. On Tuesday, they downed the rebuilding Detroit Pistons in Klay Thompson’s best game since his return.
