Report: Lakers’ Frank Vogel in coaching hot seat, ‘narrowly’ avoided termination after Nuggets’ pulverization

The drama and complication continue to roll on Hollywood, as Frank Vogel’s job and presence in the Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly on the line.

Per the latest release of Bill Oram and Sam Amick, Vogel is on the coaching hot seat right before the Lakers’ clash against the Utah Jazz on Monday. The defensive-minded coach even ‘narrowly avoided being fired’ after Los Angeles’ 37-point crushing defeat against the Denver Nuggets last week.

By the time the Lakers and Jazz tipped off on Monday night, sources said, Vogel was coaching for his job after he narrowly avoided being fired in the wake of the 37-point loss in Denver 48 hours earlier. Had a scene like that repeated itself against the Jazz, many believed it would have been Vogel’s last game.

Though the Lakers have managed to pull off arguably their best win of the season so far against the Jazz, 101-95, Vogel’s presence is detailed as a “game-to-game basis” moving ahead this season.

Vogel joined the franchise prior to the 2019-2020 campaign and handled the drawing board of the first squad being led by the LeBron James-Anthony Davis tandem. They eventually claimed NBA bubble supremacy after beating the Miami Heat in six games of the NBA Finals.

With unavailability issues plaguing them hard, added by problems regarding the roster construction, the Lakers are finding themselves in the deep hole and in the unexpected place after harnessing hype in the offseason wherein they acquired star point guard Russell Westbrook.

Holding a 22-22 record while sitting at the 7th seed of the dangerous Western Conference, the Lakers are one of the most frequent teams being engaged in trade talks, rumors, and stories ahead of next month’s deadline.

With this newest update, this time about Vogel, the purple and gold management is certainly serious about their title aspirations. Things are yet to unfold as the franchise is set to gear up further against the hardest remaining schedule of all the 30 teams in the association.
