NBA players expressed support to tennis star Novak Djokovic, who was recently deported from Australia for refusing take the Covid-19 vaccine.

The 34-year-old Serbian was supposed to take part in the Australian Open, a tournament he has won 9 times, but his visa was cancelled by the local authorities because he did not meet the requirement of being jabbed.

Djokovic has previously spoken against forced vaccinations. According to his lawyers, he was exempt from the requirements to take the Covid shot since he already had the virus and has a natural immunity.

Chicago Bulls star Nikola Vucevic publicly supported Djokovic on Twitter. “What happened to Djokovic is just politicians using their power to show off and get extra followers. It has nothing to do with Covid or visa issues, they used him to try to make themselves look better. Very sad how they treated a First Class Champion!” he tweeted.

The Montenegrin center was very disappointed that none of the tennis players supported Djokovic in public. “Also to me the saddest thing in this whole Djokovic thing was that only two of his colleagues stood by his side, everyone else got scared…unbelievable,” he added in another tweet.

Djokovic’s compatriot Boban Marjanovic expressed his support via an Instagram story by posting a photo of the tennis star attending a game in which the Serbian center played for Crvena Zvezda, adding a hashtag “#istandwithnovak”.
