Dwight Howard was one of just three players that scored in double digits for the Los Angeles Lakers in their disastrous loss against the Denver Nuggets.

The veteran center was put in the starting lineup and was given more playing time. He played 21 minutes, during which he scored 13 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. But, the main issue for the Lakers was their defense or lack thereof.

After the game, Howard was asked by the media why the Lakers are struggling on the defensive end. “Just communication,” he said. “We got to be able to string, we got to be able to communicate and talk especially in transition.

“They killed us tonight in transition, killed us tonight with points in the paint. Even with Joker being on the outside the other guys were getting into the paint. So at some point we just got to stand up and fight back.”

This was the third straight loss for Los Angeles. With 21 wins and 22 losses, they are sixth in the Western Conference.
