Stanley Johnson wants to have long term future with Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers will soon have to decide on the future of Stanley Johnson, who joined the team on a 10-day hardship exemption contract. The 25-year-old power forward was signed to help the team amid player shortage but left a good impression and was given another 10 days to show his skills.

Johnson admits that it is not in his hands whether the Lakers will keep him for the remainder of the season or not, but he would enjoy the opportunity to become a permanent part of the team.

“Hopefully I’ve shown that I can be consistent, like a good teammate, bring energy to the court. Just a good professional overall,” Johnson said. “Obviously the goal is to get on the team and obviously stick long term. That’s a goal of mine. If that happens, it happens I’ll be very very excited about it.

“I think the team is going to be really really solid. I really enjoyed myself while I’ve been here, honestly. We kind of go from there. I try to have a game tomorrow and deal with the game and then after the game we can deal with that as well when it comes.”

So far, Johnson has played 8 games for the Lakers, starting 5 times. He is averaging 5.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.3 minutes per game.
