Donovan Mitchell says Cavs’ guard Darius Garland should be an All-Star this season

Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers are on an impressive run this season, as Cleveland has improved from a lottery team to one of the best squads in the Eastern Conference.

Garland has been the main reason for Cleveland’s success, and Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell believes the third-year point guard should make the All-Star game this year.

“Darius Garland should be in the All-Star Game. Even not shooting the ball well [tonight], you saw the impact he had. What he’s doing is next-level,” Mitchell told reporters after Jazz’s loss.

Even though Garland had a tough shooting night (27.3 percent from the field) in Cavs’ victory over the Jazz in Utah (111-91), Garland finished with his first career triple-double dishing a career-best 15 assists. He also had 10 rebounds (also a career-high), 11 points and +22 in box score plus/minus.

The elusive point guard has been on a great run this season. He averages 19.1 points, 7.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds through 36 contests in the regular season.

With the All-Star weekend taking place in Cleveland, it will be a great occasion for Garland representing his team and the city for the Cavaliers’ fans.
