76ers’ Tobias Harris shrugs off trade rumors surrounding his name

From all the teams around the league that are frequently engaged with countless trade talks this season, the Philadelphia 76ers are one of the most frequent being brought up. Partly due to the disgruntled star Ben Simmons, the franchise still remains truly committed to giving the main man Joel Embiid its strongest supporting cast as the competition within the Eastern Conference continues to intensify.

Shockingly, one notable player that is now part of their recent trade rumors is Tobias Harris, who was reportedly being tried to be included in a possible package deal along with Simmons.

And when he was asked about his sentiments regarding this after Philly crumbled from a defeat against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, the 29-year-old forward just shrugged off the matter.

“Honestly, that’s something I’d rather not talk about,” Harris said, via Rich Hofmann of The Athletic. “It already took too much energy out of me yesterday and I just moved on from that. This is my 11th year in the NBA, this is not my first rodeo, this is not the first time that I’ve been in trade rumors, and it probably won’t be the last so that’s that.”

A 10-year NBA veteran who played in four different teams before landing in Philadelphia, Harris received a huge payday and knotted ties with the Sixers after inking a five-year $180 million deal after the 2018-2019 season. Statistically, he had possibly the best campaign with the Sixers last year after tallying an average of 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists in a consistent 51 percent shooting.

While he still has two more hefty years left in his contract, it’ll be interesting how things will go on after the recent news about Harris. As such, general manager Daryl Morey might have a few things to shuffle ahead of the trade deadline which will make the NBA world intrigued for more.
